Westinghouse LTV-32W1 32 Inch Widescreen LCD TV LTV-32W1 Overviews

Big and beautiful, the Westinghouse 32″ HD-ready LCD TV lets you experience the latest in digital entertainment. A huge, super-bright HD-ready widescreen display provides vivid and lifelike images. The stylishly thin, wall-mountable and frame-ready design complements any d?cor.

Westinghouse LTV-32W1 32 Inch Widescreen LCD TV LTV-32W1 Specifications

Loaded with picture-enhancing technologies and a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) for a direct-digital connection with a DTV receiver, Westinghouse Digital’s LTV-32W1 32-inch widescreen LCD television will amaze you with its ability to render sharp, vivid images from standard- and high-definition sources alike. The set’s widescreen, 16:9 aspect ratio is specially designed to match the dimensions of your favorite DVD movies and HDTV broadcasts, and you can use it as a computer monitor, too.

The 1,366 x 768-pixel LTV-32W1 features an ultra-thin, 8.5-inch profile with a 170-degree viewing angle that makes it possible to view a clear picture from almost anywhere in the room–perfect for gatherings and family movie nights. The TV is compatible with everything from standard 480i to 480p, 720p, and full 1080i HD pictures (built-in image scaling adjusts 1080i signals to match the set’s 768 horizontal lines). Compatible PC inputs range from 640 x 480 to 800 x 600, 1,024 x 768, 1,280 x 720, and full 1,366 x 768.

Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p or 720p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch “flyback” noise, an issue with CRT TVs), image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning.

The set boasts not just TrueLife video enhancement, but award-winning Faroudja DCDi (Directional Correlation Deinterlacing), as well, a video processing technology designed to eliminate jagged edges and provide a clearer picture. The LTV-32W1’s exceptional 8 millisecond response time (the time it takes the screen’s pixels to update themselves with fresh data) delivers crisp images for fast-action moving video and video games. The set also displays the broadest possible range of colors and–with its 550 cd/m2 brightness–produces vibrant images in almost any lighting condition.

Westinghouse Digital’s single-tuner PIP (picture-in-picture) feature lets you watch any source as your main image and some combination of sources as a secondary image atop each main screen. PIP functions include positioning, sizing, image swap, and audio swap.

Connections include 2 component-video inputs (both SD), 2 composite-video, 1 S-video, 1 RF, and 1 PC (RGB). A headphone jack fosters private listening. The set gives you stereo audio (with 9 watts per channel) from inputs or broadcast programming.

The set is “frame ready” so you can attach a Westinghouse Décor frame to match the furnishings and style of any room in the house.

    What’s in the Box

Died after three years – BywayJ – Ithaca, NY United States
I bought this TV for Christmas 2006 and was happy with him for the first two years. We have not connected to cable or satellite, is used only for watching DVDs and is connected to a computer to watch streaming video. Shortly after the warranty expired it started to problems. First, it is not reliable or off with the switch or remote control. We would prefer to turn it off occasionally. Finally, all work together.

Westinghouse customerService was terrible! They suggested that was unlikely to be repaired. Best Buy will not help if you purchased an extended warranty. This TV has less than 10 hours a week so it's very frustrating, to put it in such a short time to lose. I think the majority of customers expect their investments in a flat screen TV last more than 3 years and 2 months. I will never buy a Westinghouse product.

Will never buy Westinghouse again! – A. Hensler – Madison, WI
If the TV is not more than two years and the screen goes dark just begun. Like other reviewers, turn the TV off and then back solved the problem at first. Well, if the screen is off, it must be shut down for much longer before it works again. to set the price of the issue is worth more TV. My brother has a different model from Westinghouse and for six months or so and the same happens with the TV. Westinghouse is garbage!Do not buy!

A Great TV Marred by Serious Flaws – E. Richards –
Note: reduce the Addendum below to get the LED backlight bleed. Second Amendment followed by LED off. Link to a picture of the backlight bleed problem down (15/05/2010).

The Samsung 32 "LED LCD TV is a great device when used in a very limited way.

The LCD panel, as I do I can do is class S-PVA, good point of view, minimum color change (assuming the display offers recommendations on minimum distance to be determined), and a good range of colorsReproduction (> 85% NTSC). However, this TV some very serious deficiencies that it is a bad choice for many potential buyers who want a new bedroom TV, or going to be used as a computer monitor (like me).

The first of these weaknesses is the edge-lit LED backlight. While the image is very bright (too calibrate makes in this way until the monitor correctly), creates a very serious backlight bleeding. My set on a screen is completely black (at least somerandom field that is not black – more on this below) I see very large, very angry and very prominent LED light mounted on the board. While virtually unnoticed in cinematic vision, is easily visible static view of moderate contrast, but it is clearly shown static images on dark or dark scenes in movies / games in question. This phenomenon is so obvious that they say exactly where the bleeding, even during scenes with movement in them. One does not expect this in a 32 "display, as is currently the case in larger displays, which must be a larger (and lighter) series of LEDs.

The next problem Input Lag activation mode makes 120 Hz Auto Motion Plus games, or even basic computer impossible. This is a very simple and frustrating 200ms long (milliseconds) delay in processing of video images. Samsung knew ahead of time, which made it very clear that the optical digital output, isDefining the standard delay of 100 ms (the average delay of the delay of entry). Unfortunately, this is solved by setting the activation of the Game Mode (Menu -> Plug & Play -> General -> Gameplay). Game mode turns off Auto Motion Plus, DNIe, and the processor, leaving only basic brightness, contrast, white balance point, and control the backlight (it also defines the standard type of image). This effectively transforms your TV into a glorious Basic LED backlit LCD monitor with speakers. When Samsung says: "The image can be reduced," he says simply, that your TV will act as a computer monitor barebones with only basic functionality – the picture is still relatively well tuned to sharpness, and especially the controls, but DNIe processor lacks any improvement. Unfortunately, this is the only way to use TV as computer monitor, can not jump out of his skin. And 'the only way to play video games – the delay of entry makes it all but the leasttime-critical RPG-games give unacceptable "out of sync" with user input. The only bright spot in this mess is that the picture is very clear, very crisp and surprisingly smooth considering both screen size and refresh rate 60 Hz

above, the next problem is a serious flaw in the design of the TV and video games are a deal breaker for many players. The problem is this: If your TV signal meets half black to create not only black pixelsin its LCD panel. Instead, people with disabilities themselves LED *** ***. The LEDs are activated as soon as all non-blacks to receive information. This is a very obvious problem with the games as well, many scenes, and even the live-action scenes that fade to black a moment. This means that the LEDs turn off the TV and completely re-activated once you sign some non-black information. Unfortunately, there is a slight (25 ms or so) delay when this happens, and you may actually loseBeginning of the next scene in a game, as the scene is interrupted because of the reactivation of the intrinsic delay time of the LEDs. This creates a look and feel very unnatural to use the TV. While LEDs are nearly instantaneous change in her, if not a product feature. Never again. There is a huge difference between a black backlit screen and a full decommissioning of the LEDs. Transition stage and destroys all continuity. This is Samsung fixes a problem with aFirmware update that users disable the "paperless" permits.

The last of this error is possible in your TV. The first problem is with the state of visual design. The last thing you want to know directly under your TV is the light emitted by a reflection that you are regarded as distractions, but it was only because it is a sort of stand in shiny aluminum that reflect light display. Your current line of rectangular above this are notProblem. The stand also has another annoying problem, and that's not enough to reduce the width of your TV and weight. Despite the TV thin and not too heavy for conventional C / CCFL and LCD TV compared to leans forward about 3-5 degrees, attached to the support securely on the five screws. This causes the colors in the bottom of the screen appear washed out (about 20% faded from the center of the screen), where are the people (s) 'eyes to a level slightlybelow the screen, the vertical axis. The State of the lack of a tilt function (and so on for the state, instead of once a lock is set) is not only acceptable in today's world of TV / monitor mounting technology. The "one-size-all" approach of the first suits limits on how and where to effectively place this TV if you do not have some of the variety of wall mounts. Even a mini back-weighted VESA table would be better, when this support is not made of polished aluminum. <br/>
This panel LCD TV is bright, clear and extraordinarily clear himself. It would be nice if the panel was not brilliant, but that does not reflect some 'ambient light, but this is not a killer error above. The characteristics are that this TV did very well for most (streaming video format issues aside), and you get a lot of visualization capabilities for this size class.

However, I can not recommend this TV to anyone who plays games, or will do for any computerworking. The shortages are severe backlight, and backlight bleed is particularly horrible, and does this TV look like a first generation product, instead of the latest and greatest. This is one of the few products I've seen at Samsung is that mediocrity and feels like corners were cut to the right and left above the ground for the esoteric features of GIMP monitor. Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz mode actually shot an interference with the natural motion blur inherent in the video, resulting intrivial to produce an image that hardly has the depth of the case, and it feels like you are viewing full-motion cartoon.

For the pricetag on this TV (approaching $ 1,230 per minute after taxes, recycling), it is hoped that Samsung would have done at least some QA on LED-backlit before the release of this product. it feels rushed and overpriced used because of obvious defects in the LED technology.

Note: To clarify: The LCD panel itself is great, and isa huge improvement over previous models. And 'the system LED backlight * * that it is wrong and must be addressed. Also note that "LED" TV does not use LEDs per pixel. The video image is generated by the standard LCD technology with LED lighting in the background, replacing the bulky CFL in previous generations of LCD displays. benefits of LED backlighting are near instantaneous switching (but not quite current, as indicated above), and do not change the colors of their livesHow CFL.

is finding my recommendation for a customer buying a Samsung display, what you use "full matrix / local dimming LED backlighting. This type of LED-backlit display is rear mounted in place of board mounted and can be adjusted locally and offers exceptionally accurate color reproduction with virtually zero backlight bleed. If you're like me and need a 32 "TV / monitor for certain purposes and / or reasons, save money and frustration and get the LN model instead ofA variant model. This weakness backlight model are too large to justify its exorbitant pricetag.

    POSTSCRIPT:

I have a way to relieve the bleeding and reduce some of the LED backlight has found the way during dark scenes. These are the settings you need if you use an HDMI connection:

    HDMI Black Level: Normal
    Shadow detail: -2 (Default)
    Range: 0 (default)
    Color Space: Native
Black Tone: Dark (Dark brown and black work just like HDMILevel [bottom] of the LEDs on and off) (Default)
    Backlight: 14 (Default)

These settings can be a very good image quality for that bleed, drastically reducing the backlight, and the effect of the LED off in dark scenes. Samsung manual, website and other eveywhere this TV did not mention is that posted the HDMI black level is the key to the LED is off. If the LEDs switch perfectly simulate ink set to Low, theis bad during the games. When set to NORMAL, behaves like a normal TV-LCD Monitor **, if the tone is set to black OFF **. NOTE: This setting is used in combination with Black Tone. If Black is set to dark tone, darker and darker, to pass the HDMI black level [setting NORMAL] and turn off the LEDs above. For this reason, Tone Black] [Dark the best compromise is when you have darker blacks, or is set off, along with HDMI level [NORMAL] to stop turning the LED,but at the cost of degraded image dark.

I could resolve this examination (3 hours), because I had World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Teaser Trailer on my computer. The first image is dark. The second frame was barely visible logo ESRB rating, so that the edges bleed black enough to see the backlight. Through careful calibration, I finally have a good quality image with less than a shutdown problem with LEDs. YAY!

NOTE: Color SpaceNATIVE should be terminated, otherwise the picture will look like you're watching TV through the fog or a glass door from gray too.

I hope this information will help, potential buyers of this television. And thank you for actually reading this review long breath. Most of the information buyers want to talk to his arm.

Incidentally, the reason why I suspect that Samsung is the way things in relation to the LED-off to hide this TV is very seriousdesign error in terms of LED backlight bleed. On a completely black screen with HDMI Black Level [NORMAL] and Black Tone [OFF] You'll definitely notice a butterfly pattern of light behind the LCD panel, and a spot light effect from the four corners. Samsung would do well to get rid of the edge-lit LED local dimming which instead. And 'much less vulnerable to this problem and offers exceptional color accuracy.

This LCD TV is very good for what you pay, usually regret it when you make a purchase. I've had for over 6 months and have had only one problem. I said no to 5 stars because of the lack of HDMI port. And '1080i / 720p/480.

    Against – 1 – No HDMI port
2 – Speakers on TV not to go second
(It should not be a problem with a surround sound system)
3 – The remote is ok (economics)

Besides these drawbacks, the main TV andThey should not be disappointed.

I am not an expert at all, then I can not talk about many aspects of this TV. I can say is that it provides a clear picture and is very attractive on my wall. My husband loves this TV.

    Now I owned a 0 piece of junk! – C. Wu –
I agree that Olevia LCD good enough for the price, if it works. But I will warn you of their quality. (A lot of people have quality problems with Olevia to read other people's orders)

I had a similar LCD TV Olevia since June 2005. A week before when the screen is still black, but audio-set, so I know it is not the cable. I turned off and then back on. I have a quick blue screen then the screen goes black when once again.

I called technical support, and discoveredI probably need a new LCD screen that cost me ~ $ 500 because the warranty had expired go.

I spend ~ $ 800 for the set and it worked for a year and a half, I do not think is a good value, right?

So before you waste your money on the set asked if it is a good value if it breaks in just over a year!

This is a brand new, so when I bought the set, it is not until the TV last report, knowing what I know now, Ispend a little 'more and get a different brand. Now I had a $ 800 piece of junk!

I replaced my old 720p 42 "Samsung DLP clarity and quality of this fine machine. It 'clear, reliable and makes my Xbox 360 and Blu Ray look amazing. My only complaint is that I wish I had the money for some 'big model (but this is really perfect for my needs). Some people have complained about the clarity of the cable (duh, if you do not have HD cable, try soft type. No TV watching cable HD is better standards. I'm used to it until you can afford HDCable). Others have complained about the movement (as with any TV, you must cover manure with the settings. I turned on the OPC, the expansion of black level and DNR, why not have a lot in a positive way. I found that out of them improved significantly Image and completely eliminates any blurring or shades of color). Finally, the sound. Not bad, but I have a sound system (just an old AIWA stereo speakers Nice), so I do not even the TV speakers. If you are considering an HDTV,I recommend Sharp Aquos (not just Sharp), Sony Bravia and Samsung's new line. LCD or LED and spring for 1080p or you will regret later. Believe me, you will be terminated at the end just to buy a 1080p if you buy later, 720p.

Died after 1 year – Clayton Berry –
I had the TV for nearly a year to the day. He died today. For any thought of buying this, please look for "Sharp Aquos OPC LED flashes on Google. We have the problem for a while ', but you can always solve the problem of the TV, wait a minute, and reconnect inside Now, nothing works.

I am terribly disappointed in this product.

wonderful hd picture – Richard E. Burcham –
I checked several brands and decided to order a Sharp Aquos. I am pleased to say that it has satisfied my expectations. The first one I received was damaged, but the company quickly replaced by another was not. I'm satisfied.

    Customer Review

Okay first off let me say that I think Samsung does make some of THE best TVs out there. But this isn’t one of them. I have been looking for a high quality TV to play games on and for movies for a while now. I got an e-mail from Amazon stating that the new 2010 models from Samsung were now available. I thought great timing since I just got some back-pay owed to me. I wanted a 32″ TV since the room this was going into is not very big. I looked around the internet but there were no reviews But it is the description of production. So I took the gamble and bought it. I received the TV three days ago, and were depressed. Okay for review. First impressions: Nice TV, I like the style and glossy finish. I actually laughed as the box was fine. Set up was not difficult and that offer cable management hides cables from the back. Then I turned to her. Quick note * It states that "absorbs ambient light and eliminatesReflections, "I say BS, it's worse amount of reflection on any TV I've ever seen. My monitor is sitting on the opposite wall (about 14 'away) and I can easily read text from it. When you try to watch news, I could not see, because half of the screen, the stage of reflection, so bad. If you know anything about HDTV, then you know that the black level is the number one factor in the depth and quality. black this series is not black, although probably only reach thaton a plasma, here it is a semi dark grey even after adjustment. Again disappointing since I saw a deeper black on their own 32″ 360 series at Walmart that was about 0 cheaper too. Now for the biggest complaint, yes there’s more, it is the amount of back-light bleed. The top corners have a grey fan shaped bleed that extend about 5″ inwards, in the middle on the left half of the screen there are four large bleed throughs about 7″ square each, and a 6″ bleed in the middle of the right half of the screen. These bleed throughs or clouding is visible even in bright images. It makes the image wavy like. Also of note for you gamers out there, the Game Mode is ONLY available with HDMI. I have the older XBOX 360 so I use the Component cables which means no Game Mode for me. I also have the 360’s PC VGA cable, but again no Game Mode and you with those you cannot adjust sharpness, color, or black level. I did find another review here on Amazon for the 55″ model, same series, and it looks to have the same problems. As you can probably already guess, I will be returning this.

***Updated 3/24 — Okay I decided to change the ranking from 2 stars to 4 stars in that I have since calmed down and knowing that it was just a bad panel. So for anyone interested in this set, please take the review with a grain of salt (I also decided to leave it up, instead of deleting it). Overlooking the bad panel part, here is a few impressions of the set. For one, it is a beautiful set, very dark and glossy. Although only know that the screen is very shiny black mirror like, but in a light controlled room there should be no problems. I have not had a chance to Blu-ray any time on this I do not know, to see their potential. I did watch a DVD through an Xbox 360 (Kung Fu Panda) with component cables and it looked fantastic, honestly the best I have seen. Not able to go online with Xbox Live, but I see no lag in games, I was allowed to play. I've got to calibratethe set (since I was returning it), but out of the box, colors were good, blacks were not ink black still, but fairly dark with good shadow detail. I also found that this IS edge-lit, but all of the literature kept saying LED Backlighting, If I known that I wouldn’t have bought it since I personally don’t really like edge-lit displays since they typically have uniformity issues and flash-lighting (looks like spot lights from the edges), though not all edge-lit displays have this. Hopefully If you decide to give it a try, you will get a better panel.

    MOTION SICKNESS+GLARE=NOT A HAPPY CAMPER – NILEQUEEN – STL
If I Could This stomach Very GLARE want to buy a plasma!
I did not expect from an LCD screen.

First of all let me say that I bought UN32C4000 LED, took it back, though, because the image was a bit 'on Fast Moving SHOTS football, basketball and distorted. It was striking to the point of nausea and yes, I calibrated the hell out of MY TV, before returning. Actually, I wanted to keep him! In fact you can sit and WATCH THE DELAY PROPOSAL reachSELF. I found myself staring at the delay, rather than the actual programming, not cold. I thought it was about a week to see if I could live with him and could not. During this time I have searched in all specifications (Since the reviews were not there), and came up with the 5000 series. I noticed that it had conducted a feature called Motion Plus I thought that may affect DELAY HELP. And not really.

I must admit I Electronics LimitedKnowledge, but I think the reason why there is this delay is because Samsung 32 "LED's are 60Hz and 120Hz NOT? Unfortunately, Samsung does not yet in the 120Hz 32" LED. At least I could not find it anywhere, even a website!

As for the glare is affected if there is some kind of filter / layer is added to reduce the reflection, I can keep it. If the shop we go again …

Final note … If you plan to mount this TV on a wall (Full Motion Swivel reflector), you want to know that no one is the standard to accommodate the mountains. These SAMSUNG TV for any reason with non-standard "M8" screws and mounting kit stores MADE Go to "M6" holes (again, for the full motion-CON only if you angle model could be looking for happiness.) I could not believe it so I called technical support and Samsung and was shocked when he told me not to be attacked again not supported by full-motion on this TV. YOUMight think that would, at least for the IT industry standards as the rest of their TV, but do not fit the bag.

SOOOO, if you're like me and implementation hell out of this thing on the wall with full-motion, you have the M8 for the purchase of the Mountain and drill more room.

I like total Samsung TV, and may this new ultra-slim design, but between the disease and the glow I place a lot, and I do not know ifThis may be a keeper. I must say overall impression is not pleased with this Camper LED technology from Samsung so far …

We bought the TC-L32G1 in January after a bad experience with CT-L32S1 in December (see my review here). The TC-L32G1 worked great. The first device is simple and the colors, contrast, controls well. We like functions. The only downside is the sound. It 's more than enough for our bedrooms. Making a difference in tone between channels to find some variance in the volume, in some cases is due to the transmitting station. If you purchased this TV for a living or family roomYou'll probably want to invest in surround sound system. Buy The general experience with Amazon was A +. I would be this TV for a bedroom or office or recommend.

    Customer Review

I have in this TV for over a year of ownership, and has performed satisfactorily. It 'was relatively expensive when I bought it, but worth every penny. The image quality of this TV is excellent when playing Blu Ray or regular DVD movies. Digital TV pictures look great, but even standard definition pictures look like terrible. This may not be the fault of the TV though. is a minor inconvenience, I realized that the digital tuner is mediocre. For this reason, no claim good signal with regular internalTV antenna, if you spend a bit 'of money for acting as an antenna of the antenna CLEARSTREAM2.

Even if Sony does not advertise as a high frequency of this TV show smooth image at sporting events. The most recent series Bravia for some reason, this TV is inferior in performance. I'm not updating quickly.

You can watch a program and the sound goes out completely. Flip channels back and forth and the sound will come back very angry, otherwise I like the look and image.

    Customer Review

Above all, this TV screen works 1080p images. Can be marketed as 720p, but the producers forgot "to-block setting say shows you what kind of image, ranging from NTSC up to 1080p. Just press the button "View" in the remote control. When we say that this TV is amazing for the price. Thanks Sony.

I like this TV very much. The picture quality is stunning when connected to my PlayStation 3. It still surprises me after a year of it since itsalmost like looking through a window in games or movies.
Games like Bioshock, Dead Space, dirt, and films such as Wall-E and the guards look incredible. Regular NTSC channels look like crap, because the TV increases the detail, as you must make some changes in order "not to lower the tone."
Go to the "clarity" and "noise" and adjust settings. They do not fit. I'm trying to concentrate on the lowest and the highest noise and NTSC channelsEnd.

It has 3 adjustable preset picture settings: bright, standard and custom.

The speakers provide clear sound, but did not, of course, on a punch down. You need to connect a set of separate speakers for bass, but the TV is powerful enough for a space and the volume is 30, where I usually have a loud voice. It 'up to 100, but I've never not be used.

It has an optical-out port that can connect a Sound TheaterSystem to a razor-sharp digital signal processing.
I do not know what the big deal with black when they wash or not. I'm just black, and if you want only more black and the backlight brightness settings. simple.
I noticed that the loss backlight is a bit 'higher, at the corner when the screen goes black, but no big deal. It's possible.

I have a problem with not able to discard all the analog channels and keep those digital. We can not discard the rest of the channel, and are programmed together.
Favorist The list is pretty bad. You favorite 10 channels, but you can not organize or remove those already added. Simply push them out of the bottom of the list with a new program, which is a fairly long and stupid.

It has 2 HDMI inputs and three analog video inputs. A piece of input that I used.

The TV has many features not overSet the colors. But once again, is a Sony and the picture quality is great. If people want many secondary characteristics, which probably would have to pay twice the price and get the more expensive Sony.
I still break a Sony product for me, and the TV will probably take several years, hopefuly.

    Sound Died After 1 Year – G. Parks –
We bought Sony TV for years. After one year and one month of the sound of this TV just died suddenly. Went through all the menu settings if everything set up correctly for the owner manual and online support with Sony. End result is that I need to take the TV service. I think that a TV that has a problem with this start, it is likely lower the quality. I do not want to spend money, get a repair, why not trust the quality of the TV. Instead, I'll just spend the money that I shouldRepair for the price of a new TV. I once had a bad experience with a product, buy the most do not. No second chance with me.

will die on you – not happy –
My family and I bought Sony products for years, so this is the obvious choice, if I have a TV for my bedroom was necessary. The TV had no problems what so ever for the first year. But finding a day, 13 months after I bought (which is one month after the warranty) I turned on my television colored vertical stripes, which slowly appears on screen. I spoke with Sony and all he could do me a number was in a laboratory, since my TV is no longer under warranty. It 'very frustrating that they have no obligation to set my course. I understand that most people here probably cheaper because there were more than a year yet.
